Humans have been making music as long as we can remember. Whether for religious purposes, ceremonies, or just for fun, everyone has made music before. Despite many beliefs, the drum was not the earliest instrument. The earlist instrument was actually the flute, dating back over 43,000 years! The earliest flutes were made of bird bone and mammoth ivory, and were found in a cave in Germany with evidence that it was made by humans.
